Mrs. Lavina Towne Died December 24th

Funeral services for Mrs. Lavina Towne were held Saturday at 2 o'clock at the Congregational church at Rodney, Rev Roger officiating. The hymns were sung by Mrs. Arnold Richardson and
Mrs. Kirkpatrick of Smithland with Mrs. Abner Persinger at the piano.

Pallbearers were G.E. Myers, H. Nickolisen, L. R. Smith, Lee Ford, Franz Cleveland and Chris Jensen. Burial was made in the Smithland cemetery under the direction of the Willman Funeral Home.

Mrs. Lavina Towne was born May 25, 1871 near Moorhead, Ia. and passed away in Sioux City December 24, 1952. In 1890 she married Elijah Towne. All their married life was spent in and near Rodney. Mr. Towne, as well as a daughter who died in infancy, preceded her in death. For the past several years she has made her home with her son William.

She is survived by three sons: ,Cyrus of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa; William, of Sioux City, Iowa and LeRoy of Danbury, Iowa, also 8 grandchildren and 4 great- grandchildren.
