Elvira H. Vander Velden, age 77, of Clark, South Dakota, died August 28, 1989 at the Clark Care Center in Clark, South Dakota.

Services were held on Thursday, August 31, 1989, at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Clark with Father Jerry Kopel officiating.

Mrs. Vander Velden was born on June 20, 1934 at Mapleton, Iowa. She lived and worked in Milbank where she worked for Flaneries, also at Aberdeen, and she worked as the switchboard operator for Presentation College for a time at Huron. In recent years she has lived near her daughter, Joan, moving to Clark 1 1/2 years ago.

She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, several brothers and sisters and one grandchild.

Survivors include one son, Jon of Minneapolis, Minnesota; three daughters, Kay Teller of Anaconda, Montana, Mrs. Anders (Joan) Christensen of Clark, South Dakota and Mrs. Jeff (Sue) Essers of Carson City, Nevada; eight grandchildren and two sisters, Eldora Evans and Olga Melton of Yucca, California.
