15 April 2014ONAWA, Iowa | Shirley L. Rodman, 78, of Onawa passed away Saturday, April 12, 2014, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, with the Rev. Don Collison officiating. Burial will be in Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 p.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
Shirley Lois was born on Oct. 8, 1935, in Mapleton, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Alice (Ridley) Davis. She was raised in the Mapleton/Castana area where she attended school.
Shirley and James "Art" Rodman were united in marriage on Jan. 31, 1981, in Las Vegas, Nev. Shirley was employed as a waitress, Headstart, CasinOmaha, and also in the laundry and dietary departments at Burgess Health Center and Elmwood Care Centre both in Onawa.
She enjoyed music, dancing, puzzle books, going to coffee, and traveling. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by her son, Lyle (Teresa) Butler of Onawa; five grandchildren, Ashley Butler of Casper, Wyo., Isaac Butler of Chantilly, Va., Lindsey Butler of Onawa, Amanda (Matt) Bogard of Chariton, Iowa, and Kristopher (Erin) Struble of Louisville, Ky.; one great-granddaughter, Sadie Bogard of Chariton; one sister, Donna Feldhacker of Onawa; one brother, Lyle "Ern" (Darlene) Davis of Sioux City; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Larry Davis; two sisters, Ardith (Pauley) Allen, and Martha Davis; and a half brother, Leslie Davis.
