16 April 2014Ruth Ann Mikkelson, 83, of Turin, Iowa, passed away peacefully Friday, April 11, 2014, at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa.
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, April 17, 2014 at the Onawa United Methodist Church in Onawa, Iowa with Pastor Dennis Burns, officiating. Burial will be in the Belvidere Cemetery, Rural Turin, Iowa. Visitation will be 6:30 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.
Ruth Ann was born May 17, 1930 in Castana, Iowa the daughter of Martin and Minnie (Erlandson) Nelson. She was raised in the Castana, Iowa area where she attended school. She graduated from the Castana High School.
Ruth and Mike Mikkelson were united in marriage on October 14, 1949 in Sioux City, Iowa. Three children were born to this union, Vickie, Dennis, and Ron. The couple made their home in the Turin vicinity. Mike passed away on May 13, 2004.
Ruth was a homemaker and loved raising her children. She enjoyed being outside and working in her yard and garden. She loved spending time with her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.She was baptized in and a member of the Turin United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.
Ruth is survived by her children, Vickie (Kent) Miller of Lincoln, NE and Ron (Dawn) Mikkelson of Sioux City, IA; six grandchildren, Sarah (Chris) Bolte, Nicole (Nate) Dirks, Lauren (Ben Wasser) Mikkelson, Alex Mikkelson, Aaron Mikkelson grandchildren, Jordan, Tanner, and Morgan Bolte.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Dennis; grandson, Charles Miller; and an infant sister Grace.
