Charles Clayton Cox was born February 25, 1946 in Pisgah, Iowa. He went on to see the Lord on March 31, 2014, while working on his farm in Moorhead, IA; attaining the age of 68 years, one month, and six days.

Charles attended a one room country school and then Woodbine Public School. Charles worked various jobs early in life: Heiber Trucking (Moorhead, IA), Schemmer Rock Quarry (Logan, IA), and Bolton Farms (Dunlap, IA). He especially enjoyed working on La Brie Ritchie Ranch (Umpqua, OR), Running Y Ranch for the Disney family (Klamath Falls, OR), and finally his own farm purchased from dear friends Weston and Theressa Taylor (Moorhead, IA). He worked on his farm from 1984 to the present time.

Charles met Louise Chase and they were married on July 30, 1966. This loving couple had two daughters. The first daughter is Molly and her husband John Heaps with their sons Joel and Justin (Dunlap). The second daughter is Gloria Cox and her husband Mohamed Abd Elnabi with their sons Youssef and Zechariah (Omaha, NE). Charles and Louise cared for a total of 9 foster children as well as taking in many others who they found in need over the years. Charles loved being a father, later a grandfather, mentor, and foster father. He is remembered as fun-loving and always pulling pranks on everybody.

While Charles enjoyed farming, ranching, flying, bulldozing aka "movin' dirt", hiking in the mountains and visiting the ocean, his main focus was always on the Lord. After his heart was miraculously healed in January 1974, he had many great adventures with God. Charles began each day by encouraging himself in the Lord through prayer and devotion saying that he was on "God's Time". He also used this time to pray for his loved ones and even just acquaintances. God put a desire in Charles' heart to reach out to others in love and encourage them to walk with Him. Charles' greatest desire was to know that he would be able to meet all his family and friends in eternity. In 1997, Charles helped start Word of Life Church in Dunlap, IA. In 2007, Charles and Louise opened the LaBrie Youth Center in Dunlap, IA. He really enjoyed ministering to the youth and sharing with all who entered there the love of Jesus Christ.

Charles was born into a large family which included the following: parents Dewey and Bertha (Benson) Cox-both deceased. Siblings: Dewey Cox (infant deceased), Donald Cox of Woodbine; Darlene Malone of Dunlap; Bertha Ellen Morton of Logan; Janet Archer of Turin; Gary Cox (Barbara) of Dunlap; Larry Cox (deceased); Carolyn Archer (Frank) of Moorhead; Ronald Cox (Linda) of Dow City; Patricia Hardy of Moorhead; Keith Cox (infant deceased); Stanley Cox (Chris) of St. Louis, MO; and many other relatives and friends.
