KILLED HIS BROTHER
Fatal Results of an Accidental Discharge of Hunter’s Gun.

Castana, Ia., Jan. 13.—James Lord, a well known farmer of this vicinity, was accidentally shot and almost instantly killed by his brother, Henry Lord, while the two were hunting rabbits about four miles southeast of Castana. The brothers were about 100 yards apart when the accident occurred. They were walking abreast, Henry Lord on the edge of a ravine and his brother farther down the slope. As Henry Lord raised his gun to discharge it, in some way not explainable, it was discharged in the air. The bullet, a 25-20, struck the limb of a tree or some other obstacle and was deflected from its course. It struck James Lord above the right breast and went nearly through his body, lodging near the left hip. The injured man cried out, “You have shot me!” And his brother reached him as he fell. Aid was at once summoned, but the injured man died within a few minutes. He was 39 years old and leaves a wife and five children.
