Etta Mae (Gereau) Fitzgerald, 92, of Orange, Calif., formerly of Sioux City and Onawa, Iowa, died Wednesday, April 17, 2002, at her residence.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Norbert's Catholic Church in Orange. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. today at Rose Hill Funeral Home in Orange.

Etta Mae (Gereau) Fitzgerald was born Oct. 29, 1909, in Onawa, Iowa, the daughter of Jesse and Katherine (Braun) Rounds.

She married Victor "Tony" Gereau on Aug. 29, 1925, at St. Jean the Baptist Church in Sioux City. They later became members of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sioux City. They moved to California in 1951. The couple operated a small cafe until Mr. Gereau's death on Jan. 27, 1955. She later married Herman Edward Fitzgerald in 1959. He died in 1984.

She enjoyed crocheting, reading and playing cards with family and friends. She truly enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Richard and his wife, Phyllis of Orange, Calif., and Michael of Yucca Valley, Calif.; a daughter and her husband, Barbara and Julius Sypersma of Sioux City; three sisters, Alice Waddington of Sioux City, Lois Wald of Stanton, Calif., and Mildred "Sis" Renner of Lodi, Calif.; 24 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; four stepsons; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, William and Robert; two infant sons, Frances and Daniel; four brothers, Herbert, Kenneth, Gene and Wilbur; and two sisters, Helen Bechard and Lavonne Zook.
