18 July 2002Lyle G. Knutson. 77, of Sioux City died Tuesday. July 16, 2002 at a Sioux City nursing home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Ute Christian Church in Ute, Iowa, with the Rev. Mark Smeltzer officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Cemetery.
Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel in Sioux City.
Mr. Knutson was born May 13, 1925, in Ute, the son of Roy Kenneth and Alice Marie (Strait) Knutson. He was raised in Ute, where he attended school. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He married Garnet Carlson on March 1, 1947, in Sioux City. He owned and operated Knutson Salvage in Ute.
The couple moved to Sioux City in 1985. He was employed as a custodial worker with General Business and KTIV. Mrs. Knutson died Oct. 25, 1995, in Sioux City.
He was a member of Ute Christian Church. He enjoyed collecting antiques and music.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Nancy Knutson of Jacksonville, Fla.; two grandsons, Jerry Knutson and his special friend, Trisha Rosenbaum of Sioux City and Stanley Knutson Jr. of Fremont, Neb.; three great-grandchildren, Kody Knutson, Wade Knutson and Brandon Knutson; and two brothers, two sisters and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; a son, Stanley Knutson; and a brother.
Pallbearers will be Stacey Carlson, Donnie Thompson, Ricky Carlson, Frank McAndrews, Lonnie Carlson and Ryan Durnkreiger.
