WILLIAM ALFRED MANN

William Alfred Mann, Hornick, Iowa, died on January 22, 1988, at his home after a long illness. Death came at the age of 90 years, 1 month and 12 days.

He was born December 10, 1897, in Cushing, Iowa. He lived in Hornick most of his life. On June 1, 1955, he married Edna Weber in Park Rapids, Minnesota.

He was a World War I Veteran and served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a master mechanic.

Mr. Mann was a member of Hindman-Steel American Legion Post #492 of Hornick, where he was the last WWI Veteran in the Post, and he was a member of Attica Lodge #502 A.F. & A.M. of Sloan.

Survivors include his wife, Edna; an adopted son, Dr. Alex Ramos, Grand Rapids, Minn.; two brothers, Ambrose of Union Mills, Ind. and Richard of Sabula, Ia.; four sisters, Mrs. Mamie Jones of Correctionville, Mrs. Alice Robinson of Vacaville, Calif., Mrs. Anna Osborne of Arlington, Va. and Mrs. Genevieve Heath of Anthon, Ia.

Memorial services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 25, 1988, at the Willman funeral Home in Rodney with the Rev. Gary DeGeest and Dr. Alex Ramos officiating. Mrs. Ellen Harbeck was the organist.

Honorary bearers were Lyle Mitchell, Larry LaBrune, Earl Miller, John Haviland, Leonard Kroll, Charles Rose and David Mann.

Interment was in Willow Township Cemetery at Holly Springs, Iowa, with Military Graveside Services by Hindman-Steel American Legion Post #492 of Hornick. Arrangements were by the Willman Funeral Home, Rodney, Iowa.
