GRACE GREENSTREET JOHNSON

Grace Greenstreet Johnson, Onawa, Iowa, formerly a longtime resident of Moorhead, Iowa, died on Saturday, January 2, 1988, in Elmwood Nursing Home in Onawa following a long illness. Death came at the age of 92 years, 11 months and 30 days.

She was born in Monona County on January 3, 1895, the daughter of Loyal and Minnie (Skinner) Greenstreet. She married Sigor Johnson March 11, 1914, in Monona County. The couple made their home in Moorhead. He died in 1955. Grace had been a resident of Elmwood Nursing Home the past twelve years.

She was a member of the Moorhead Christian Church where she was very active in the various church groups, the Royal Neighbors of America and the American Legion Auxiliary, both of Moorhead, and the Rebekah Lodge at Castana.

She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Esther Greenstreet of Mapleton and Jennie Greenstreet of Castana and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two brothers.

Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 6, 1988, in the Moorhead Christian Church with Rev. John McGee officiating. Mrs. Charles Kratz, the organist, played “How Great Thou Art” and “In the Garden”.

Bearers were Harold Swenson, George Moorhead, Paul Moorhead, David Moorhead, Sabin Smith and Iden Johnson.

Interment was in Grant Township Cemetery, rural Rodney, Iowa, with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
