ELLA H. ALBERTSEN
Ella H. Abertsen, 90, of Mapleton, Iowa, died Saturday, January 2, 1988, in a nursing home in Onawa after a short illness.
Mrs. Albertsen, the former Ella Bendixen, was born January 9, 1897, in Ida County, near Schleswig. She lived in Ida County until her marriage to Paul Albertsen, November 12, 1930, at South Sioux City. The couple made their home in Mapleton. He died August 15, 1966. She had worked for several years at Van’s Variety Store at Mapleton.
Mrs. Albertsen was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ and Women’s Guild of the Church. She was a longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary at Mapleton.
Survivors include a son, Warren, of Waterloo; three sisters, Mrs. Josephine Jergensen of Spirit Lake, Wanda Bendixen of Mapleton and Mrs. Viola Henrichsen of Cushing; and two great granddaughters.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Mapleton with the Rev. Richard Hempenius officiating. Burial was in Morgan Cemetery at Schleswig with Walter funeral Home of Mapleton in charge of arrangements.
