Donald D. Erickson, 77, of Sioux City died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Terry Hudson officiating. Graveside services will be 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in Belvedere Cemetery, Turin, Iowa, with military rites conducted by American Legion Posts Struble Rowland 702 of Turin and Grimsley-Thayer 502 of Castana, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be 7 to 9 p.m. today at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.

Mr. Erickson was born Oct. 7, 1923, in Castana, the son of Albert and Edna (Livengood) Erickson. He graduated from Castana High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He married Ada A. Hansen on Nov. 19, 1945, in Onawa, Iowa. He was employed with Prince Hydraulics for more than 25 years until retiring. His wife died Jan. 9, 1999.

He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and American Legion Struble Rowland Post 702. He enjoyed woodworking and golfing.

Survivors include two daughters, Donna and her husband, Milford Bell, and Brenda Peterson, all of Sioux City; two sons, Larry of Sioux City, and Rick and his wife, Mary of Omaha; six grandchildren, Lauri Mitchell, Greg Bell and Michelle, Kevin, Leslie and Lindsey Erickson; two great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Robert and Wilda of Castana; three sisters, Ruth Mesenbrink of Sioux City, Mary and her husband, Ronald LeFebvre, and Dorothy and her husband, Clifford LeFebvre, all of Mapleton, Iowa; and a brother-in-law and his wife, Harvey and Thelma Hansen of Turin.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Merlin.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Erickson, Greg Bell, Ken Mitchell, Barry and Bernie Erickson and Roger Hansen.
