John Hollister, 70, of Pleasant Hill passed away Friday, Dec. 16, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, at Unity Lutheran Church in Des Moines where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Hope cemetery in Mapleton.

John was born in Sioux City, raised in Mapleton and graduated from Mapleton High School. He married Sharon Wasmund in 1968 and moved to the Des Moines area where they made their home. John
retired from the Iowa State Vocational Rehabilitation Center after 25 years of service.

John is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sharon, his daughter, Jill (Eric) DeLauter, of St. Louis, Mo., and his sister, Patricia (Bruce) Goodenow of Okoboji and two grandsons, Christian and Gabriel DeLauter.

Memorial contributions may be made to Unity Lutheran Church in Des Moines.
