Elmer Rose, 80, died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011 at Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Elmer is survived by his wife, Evelyn of Lake City, children, Dennis (Debbie) Rose of Goodman, MO, Connie (Jim) Quinn of Yuma, AZ, Andy (Pat) Rose of Lake City, Kathy (Darrell) Wendt of Bellevue, NE, and Kitty (William) Wonder of Onawa, IA, 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, sister, Mary (Elmer) Palmer, and brother, Ted Rose all of Mapleton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Marjorie Rose and sister, Jeanette Rodeman.

Elmer Lowell Rose was born December 23, 1930 in Castana, IA to Earl and Marjorie (O'Connor) Rose. On June 21, 1952 he was married to Evelyn Thompson at Battle Creek, IA and together they celebrated 59 years of marriage. Elmer worked as a farmer, and enjoyed wood-working, working with horses, John Deere, eagles and visiting with friends. After retiring he kept busy doing odd jobs mowing lawns, filling gardens, removing snow and was especially fond of his cat, "Kit Kat".
