Lorraine M. Spahn, 97, of Mapleton, Iowa passed away February 5, 2011, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa. She was cremated and a memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Mapleton with Lorraine's son, Rev. Thomas K. Spahn officiating. A private family burial is scheduled at Mt. Hope Cemetery at Mapleton.

Lorraine Marion Spahn was born August 3, 1913, at Schleswig, Iowa, the daughter of Henry August and Minnie M. A. (Hollander) Klotz. She grew up and was educated in the Schleswig area graduating from high school.

On September 20, 1934, Lorraine was united in marriage to Orval Spahn at Schleswig, Iowa. The couple lived in Ute, Iowa briefly and then moved the family to Mapleton in 1941. Orval passed away June 9, 1981.

She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Mapleton as well as the Mapleton Club and Willow Vale Golf Club.

Survivors include one daughter and her husband, Carolyn and William Herbrechtsmeyer of Charles City, Iowa; two sons and their wives, Rev. Thomas K. and Louise Spahn of Beach Park, Illinois and William and Jan Spahn of Meadow Vista, California; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and one sister, Marion Jensen of Geneva, Nebraska.

Along with her husband, Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Eldo and Andrew Klotz; and one sister, Helen Klotz.
