Fern Margaret Buttery did Dec. 20 in McAlester, Okla., at the age of 88 years, 1 month, 27 days.

Funeral Service was Friday, Dec. 27, at 10:30 a.m. at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton with Pastor Cynthia Moore officiating. Interment was at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Mapleton.

Fern was born Oct. 23, 1925, to Percy “Bert” Habinck and Edith (Thompson) Habinck in Midway. She graduated from Mapleton High School in 1942. She then attended business college and worked in Sioux City at Toy National Bank, the Orpheum Theater, and retired from Ouaker Oats as Office Manager.

Fern was united in marriage to Elwood “Woody” Buttery June 27, 1947, in Sioux City. The couple moved to Arizona in 1974 and onto Oklahoma in 1990.

Survivors include “Woody,” her husband of 66 years; one brother-in-law and his wife, Bill and Pat Buttery of Irving, Texas; one sister-in-law, Betty Fox of Belle Vista, Ark.; and numerous nieces and nephews, other family members, and friends.

She was an avid animal lover and is survived by her beloved dog, “Buffy,” and cat, “Jenny.”

Fern was preceded in death by her parents, Percy and Edith Habinck.

Armstrong Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.
