23 August 2007Gracie Elizabeth Copeland Dethlefs, 92, of Warsaw, Missouri formerly of Onawa, went to be with the Lord, Sunday afternoon, July 1, 2007 at the Warsaw Health & Rehabilitation Center in Warsaw, Missouri.
She was born near Slater, Missouri on September 13, 1914, the youngest of eight children born to James Benjamin and Rebecca Jane Dillie Copeland. While in Onawa Gracie was a worker in the First Lutheran Church. Gracie and Walter moved from Onawa to Missouri where they lived on the Lake of Ozarks until they moved to the nursing home in Warsaw March 1, 2007 following Gracie's back injury.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Walter, of the home, and two daughters, Mary Spradlin and her husband, Bill of Leawood, KS and Elaine Skorupa and her husband, John, of Warsaw, MO; nine grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren and twelve great-great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a daughter, Janice Wagner in 2004; and a son-in-law, John Richard Wagner in 1998.
Services were held at Faith Lutheran Church in Warsaw, Missouri at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2007 with Rev. Morris Meseke officiating. Music was provided by Susan Porterfield, organist.
Interment was in Greenlawn Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri with arrangements by Reser Funeral Home of Warsaw.
Note: Walter is a brother of Louise Ferris.
