Katharine "Kaye" (Hunting) Gannon passed away peacefully Friday, June 1st, 2007.

Kaye was born on December 12, 1918 in Onawa. She grew up in Whiting and graduated from Whiting Consolidated School in 1936. She attended and graduated from the University of Nebraska with a major in History and English. Afterward she taught school in Onawa.

Kaye also taught sixth grade at the Christ Church Episcopal Day School in Ontario, CA from 1963 to 1970. In 1970, Kaye married William "Bill" P. Gannon and they moved to San Luis Obispo, CA where they lived for the remainder of their lives. In 1981, Bill passed unexpectedly.

Kaye was active in Scouts, PTA, Little League, the Episcopal Church including the choir, American Association of University Women, DAR, and many other community activities. In 1960, she was awarded a PTA lifetime honor for her contributions. She continued to be a member of Delta Theta Chi Sorority and was active in the San Luis Obispo Historical Society. Until recently, she continued to research Genealogy, a great passion of hers.

She is survived by her son, Dr. Bruce Grube and wife Kathryn; daughter, Janis Yerkey; son, Dr. Joel Grube and wife Kathy; grandchildren, Michael Yerkey, Stacy Venters, Eric Yerkey, Marc Yerkey, and Ronan Grube; great grandchildren, Jordan Garness, Matthew Garness, Hannah Yerkey, Anika Yerkey, and Erica Yerkey; and great-great grandson, Anthony Garness.

A graveside service was held at San Luis Obispo, CA on Friday, June 8th.
