Ardell Savery, 77, of Soldier, Iowa passed away peacefully on Monday, June 25, 2007 at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa following a short illness.

Services were held 10:30 am. Thursday, June 28 at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton With Pastor Harvey Hanson officiating. Burial was in Spring Valley Cemetery, Moorhead with military grave side honors and interment by American Legion Post #462 of Soldier. Celia Stevenson was the organist and Tern Pratt was the soloist. Music' included "The Old Rugged Cross", "On Eagles Wings", and "Precious Lord Take My Hand". A prayer p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Ardell LaVerne Savery was born at Moorhead, Iowa on April 14, 1930, the son of Roy and Mabel (Torgerson) Savery. He attended country school and later joined the Army and served in Korea.

On December 18, 1960, he married Donna Rae Anderson of Whiting, Iowa at the Whiting Christian Church. The couple farmed for many years in the Moorhead and Soldier area. He also ran his own custom corn shelling business and loved being on his Cat and maintainer.

Survivors include Donna, his wife of 46 years; three sons, Randy and Rodney Savery of Soldier, Iowa and Kevin Savery and his wife, Ardell's daughter-in-law, Brenda of Ute, Iowa and their two beautiful children, Ardell's grandchildren, Matt and Ashley Savery; one brother, Dale Savery and his wife, Virgia of Arkansas; two sisters and their husbands, Arlene and Richard Wessel of Denison, Iowa and Mary and Max Siemer of Princeton, Missouri.

Ardell was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Mabel Savery and two nephews, Lee and Terry Wessel.

He leaves behind a host of friends and other family members along with his beloved dog, `Lady".

Honorary pallbearers were Gordon Foss, Bob Banks, Charlie Merritt, Virgil Ehlers, Jim Longlee, Bob Pratt and Mike Keating.

Pallbearers were Donnie Martz, Greg Shaffer, Jerry Shaffer, Jeff Pratt, Don Savery, Donnie Anderson and Hank Buschmann.
