John Neal Comfort, 82, Blencoe, Iowa, died unexpectedly Friday, July 13, 2007 at Burgess Health Center at Onawa.

John was born December 17, 1924 at Onawa, Iowa, the son of Richard "Dick" and Etta (Boyd) Comfort. John was raised in the Blencoe area and graduated from Blencoe Public School in 1942. He joined the United States Navy December, 1943 and served during World War II. He was discharged December, 1945.

John married Joyce Parks June 4, 1946 at Hiawatha,
Kansas. The couple made their home at Blencoe where John was a lifetime farmer.

He was a member of Blencoe United Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce of Blencoe; four sons, Dick and his wife Karen Comfort of Omaha, NE, Jack Comfort of Blencoe, Gary
and his wife Barbara Comfort of New Prague, MN and Mike Comfort of Norman,OK; a daughter, Nancy and her husband, Barry Anderson of Omaha; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a brother, Merle Comfort of Omaha.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Tim and Ken Comfort and a sister, Phyllis Barney.

Memorial services were held at 200 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at Blencoe United Church of Christ with Pastor Don Collison officiating. Music selections were "In The Garden" with Patty Gibson soloist and an organ solo, "Whispering Hope" with Bev Collison, organist.

Burial will be at a later date.

There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family
