LILLIE ALFREDSON

Lillie Alfredson, 83, lifelong Sloan, Iowa, resident, died Saturday, December 19, 1987, at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Whiting.

She was born March 19, 1904 (the daughter of Wm. DuBois and Lena Johnson, per birth record via Ancestry.com) near Sloan and taught rural school in the Albaton area. On December 10, 1925, she married Harold E. Alfredson in Sioux City. The couple farmed in the Sloan area until 1969 when they retired. He died August 7, 1984, in Onawa.

She was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church and Evangelical Covenant Women. She was a member of the Grandmothers Club of Sloan, and a former member of Athena Lodge Chapter 460, Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include two sons, Vernon and Gerald both of Sloan; one sister, Mrs. Grace Rush of West Point, Nebr.; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and three step-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers, Leonard and Glen.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 1987, in the Evangelical Covenant Church at Sloan with Rev. Russell Sizemore officiating. Mrs. Earl Miller was the pianist. The congregation sang “Just As I Am” and “All the Way My Savior Leads Me”.

Bearers were John Lofshult, Wallace Parker, Gerald Bromander, Keith Olson, Harold Heinle and Richard Morse.

Interment was in Fairview Cemetery at Albaton with arrangements by the Wood Funeral Home, Sloan, Iowa.
