Elizabeth I. Loomis, 86, Onawa, Iowa died Sunday, March 4, 2007 at Burgess Health Center, Onawa.

Elizabeth was born March 25, 1920 at North Platte, Nebraska, the daughter of Walter and Dena (Volkl) Alexander. She lived her childhood in Nebraska and Kansas until moving with her family to a farm near Onawa in 1936. She was a graduate of Capital Beauty School in Omaha, Nebraska.

Elizabeth married Charles Loomis November 11, 1946 in Onawa and the couple farmed and made their home near Onawa for 50 years. Charles died
October 7, 1997.

She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and St. John's Rosary Society.

Survivors include a son, Paul of Onawa; a daughter and her husband, Mary and Ron Winterboer of Ft. Dodge, IA;' a grandson and his wife, Chad and Lynn Winterboer of Broomfield, CO; a step great granddaughter, Rosie and two brothers, Robert and Raymon Alexander both of Omaha.

In addition to her husband, she was, preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Leo and Ralph and a sister, Bertha Carroll.

The funeral mass was held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 9, 2007 at St. John's Catholic Church with Father Patrick O'Kane, celebrant. Music selections were "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art". Gary Linder was cantor and Lou Hewitt was organist.

Burial was Onawa Cemetery. Visitation was from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Scriptural prayer service at 7;00 p.m. at Rush Family Care Service, Onawa.

Casket bearers were Donald Par, Bill Voss, Paul Benjamin, Mike Christensen, Roy Wakehouse and Kenny Butler.
