ANNA WARENGO

Anna Warengo, 79, of Onawa, Iowa, died Sunday, November 15, 1987, at Elmwood Nursing Home in Onawa, Iowa.

She was born July 6, 1908, in Luxemburg, to Jake and Helen Kies and came to the United States in 1913. On June 6, 1926, she married Nick Warengo, in Onawa, Iowa. In 1965 she became a U.S. citizen. Mr. Warengo died November 1, 1979, in Omaha, Nebraska.

She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Onawa.

Survivors include: five sons, Raymond of Sioux City, Gene of Lakeside, Calif., Jim of Wichita Falls, Texas, Robert of Peoria, Ariz. and Gary of Blencoe; four daughters Mrs. Merle (Rose) Schultz of Onawa, Mrs. Tom (Helen) Young of Peoria, Ariz., Mrs. Ken (Mary) McMillon of El Cajon, Calif. and Mrs. Ralph (Betty) Gushard of Omaha, Nebr.; one sister, Mrs. Madeline Faultmier of Vermillion, S.D.; 17 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two sons, Joseph in infancy and Clarence on February 28, 1987.

The Rosary was recited at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 19, 1987, at the Pearson Funeral Chapel, Onawa, Iowa.

The Funeral Mass was held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 20, 1987, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Onawa, Iowa, with Monsignor Richard Zenk officiating. The organist was Mrs. James Stangel and the soloist, Mrs. Fred Gibson sang “Amazing Grace” and “How Great Thou Art”.

Bearers were Vernon Myers, Kenneth Mings, Jim Beck, Pete E. Wright, John Flammang and Richard Bellis.

Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa, with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
