ALMA KATHLEEN HOGEBOOM

Alma Kathleen Hogeboom, 76, of Onawa, formerly of Sioux City, Iowa, died of cancer, Sunday, September 27, 1987, at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa after a long illness.

She was born August 5, 1911, in Monona County, north of Onawa, to Fredrick E. and Matilda C. (Johnson) Karch. On September 8, 1929, she married Albert Vaughn in Onawa. She married Harley Byron Hogeboom on December 20, 1934, in Elk Point, South Dakota. They farmed in the Blencoe area and at Moorhead from 1943 until 1970 when they moved to Sioux City. Mr. Hogeboom died May 5, 1978, in Sioux City. She had been a resident of Onawa since 1986.

She was baptized in the Christian Church at Moorhead in 1946.

Survivors include two sons, LeRoy Vaughn and Tom Vaughn, both of Onawa; one brother, George of San Luis Obispo, Calif.; six grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 1, 1987, at the First Christian Church in Onawa with Rev. Jerry Quandt officiating. The organist, Mrs. Vince Phillips, accompanied Rev. Jerry Quandt who sang “In the Garden” and “Take My Hand Precious Lord”.

Bearers were Mike Vaughn, Randy Vaughn, Rick Vaughn, John Vaughn, Dave Vaughn and Kevin Cameron.

Interment was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City, Iowa, with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
