GUY HANSON

Guy Hanson, 77, life-long resident of Soldier, Iowa, died Thursday, September 24, 1987, at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa following a long illness.

He was born March 14, 1910, at Soldier, to Ole. T. and Mattie (Field) Hanson and attended rural schools and the Soldier Public Schools. On June 1, 1937, he married Cora Nelsen at Soldier. He operated a farm-to-marker trucking business.

He was a member of the Soldier Lutheran Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Cora; a son and his wife, Ronald Guy and Bev Hanson of South Bend, Ind.; two daughters, Mrs. James (Virginia) Wells of Kansas City, Mo. and Mrs. Elmer (Nancy) Petersen of Omaha, Nebr.; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Graetz and Mrs. Mary Ulven, both of Soldier; one brother, Oscar Hanson of Rodney; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Leona Outhouse; and three brothers, Clarence and Henry and an infant brother.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 28, 1987, in the Soldier Lutheran Church with Rev. Larry Sydow officiating. Mrs. Ivan Gibbs was the organist. The Men’s Quartet, Craig Swenson, Gordon Foss, Stan Hansen and Mark Clemon, sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and “In the Garden”.

Bearers were Glen Hanson, Leonard Hanson, Orvan Ulven, Marvin Ulven, Jere Graetz and Douglas Nelsen.

Interment was in the Soldier Lutheran Cemetery at Soldier with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home, Soldier, Iowa.

A memorial has been established in Mr. Hanson’s name with the Soldier Lutheran Church.
