MABLE FERRIS

Mable Ferris, Little Sioux Iowa, died Friday, September 11, 1987, in the Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebr., following a brief illness. Death came at the age of 79 years, nine months and twelve days.

She was born November 30, 1907, at Little Sioux, the daughter of Harry Lee Breeling and Elizabeth Belle Golden Breeling. She attended Little Sioux High School. On December 21, 1925 she married William Edward Ferris at Onawa. Mr. Ferris died August 4, 1975, at Onawa.

She was baptized in the Christian Church in Little Sioux. She was very involved in community activities and especially in the Little Sioux Homecoming and the Senior Citizens functions. She loved the outdoors, gardening, fishing and cared for many stray animals throughout her lifetime.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Dale (Wilma Jean) Mathison of Little Sioux; a son, Edward of Blair, Nebr.; three sisters, Waneita Grandgenett of Little Sioux, Mildred Headley of Omaha and Mrs. Harris (Norma) Evers of Council bluffs; four brothers, Roy of Little Sioux, Vernon of Elmwood, Nebr., Harold of Omaha and Keith of Watseka, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father in April 1957, her mother in 1970 and her husband.

Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 4, 1987, at the United Methodist Church in Little Sioux with Rev. Leon Wallace and Elder Thomas Carritt officiating. The pianist, Mrs. Roger Pippitt, accompanied the soloist, Mrs. Donald Stoll in the selections “How Great Thou Art” and “In the Garden”. The poem “To Those I Love and Those Who Love Me” was shared by Linda Jensen.

Active Bearers were Richard Grandgenett, Roger Grandgenett, Tom Evers, Mark Evers, Gary Headley and Gary Ferris.

Honorary Bearers were Danny Mathison, David Mathison, Jerry Ferris, Jim Jensen, Brad Ferris, Kent Ferris, Richard Seamann and Kevin Breeling.

Interment was in Little Sioux Cemetery at Little Sioux, Iowa, with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
