WARREN W. HUTCHESON

Warren W. Hutcheson, Onawa, Iowa, died on August 11, 1987, in the Veteran’s Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. He had reached the age of 92, years, 8 months and 12 days.

He was born near Mapleton, Iowa, on November 29, 1894, the son of William H. and Hattie (Diacon) Hutcheson. He served with the U.S. Army during World War I. He married Jessie Moore on September 24, 1924, in Logan, and the couple farmed at Moorhead for 10 years and at Stuart, Nebraska for one year. The couple had been residents of Onawa since 1946. He was custodian at the Onawa State Bank for five years before retiring in 1961.

He was a member of the First Christian Church in Onawa, was a 57-year member of and Past Master of the Elk Lodge #586 A.F. and A.M. of Moorhead, and was a 68-year member of the American Legion, a life-member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a life-member of the Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include his wife, Jessie, of Onawa; a daughter, Mrs. Harold (Pauline) Parkhill of Sioux City; two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Philbrick of Stuart, Nebr. and Mrs. Orlo (Odessa) Schaffer of Moorhead; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Deloris Kuhlman and an infant daughter, Harriet Mae; three brothers; and three sisters.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, 1987, at the First Christian Church, Onawa, with Rev. Jerry Quandt and Rev. Everett Epperson officiating. Mrs. Vince Phillips, the organist accompanied Rev. Jerry Quandt in the vocal selections, “The Old Rugged Cross” and “In the Garden”.

Bearers were Dwayne Philbrick, Dwight Philbrick, Ron Hutcheson, Bill Hutcheson, Norman Hutcheson and Eldon Hutcheson.

Interment was in Jordan Township Cemetery at Soldier, Iowa, with Masonic Graveside Services by Elk Lodge #586 A.F. & A.M., Moorhead, Iowa, Joe Jessen, Orator. Military Graveside Services were conducted by David McNeill American Legion Post #129 and Monona County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2694.

Arrangements were by the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
