MAUDE E. CONYERS

Maude E. Conyers, the daughter of Floyd and Minerva VanNess, was born December 5, 1888, at Portsmouth, Iowa. The couple lived in Moorhead, Soldier and Onawa before moving to Mapleton in 1929. Her beloved husband, Arthur, preceded her in death on March 3, 1963.

Maude was a member of the St. John’s Methodist Church, the W.S.C.S., the Saddle Club, the Civic Club, The Golf Club and past director of the Kitchen Klatter Band.

Maude died on Sunday, July 19, 1987, at the Mapleton nursing home where she had been residing the last five years, having attained the age of 98 years, 7 months and 14 days.

Survivors include one grandson, Robert Conyers, of Mapleton, Ia.; three great grandchildren, Mrs. Andy (Carrie) Rosauer of Danbury, Mrs. Patty Curiel of Dodge City, Kans., Robert and his wife, Angie Conyers, of Mapleton; five great grandchildren, Tony and Lindsey Rosauer, Nicholas Curiel, Derick and Dezinae Conyers; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Clara Conyers of Mapleton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one son, Russell.

Services were held on Wednesday, July 22, 1987, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John’s United Methodist Church, Mapleton, Ia. Pastor Dick Krambeck officiated. Mrs. Elaine Krambeck was organist with congregational singing of “A Might Fortress Is Our God” and “Rock of Ages”.

Pallbearers were Robert Conyers, Clifford LeFebvre, Darrell VanNess, Andy Rosauer, Bill Hagerdon and David VanNess.

Interment was in Spring Valley Cemetery, Moorhead, Iowa, with Walter Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
