FLORENCE R. RATHBUN

Florence R. Rathbun, age 89, of 1924 W. Palmer, Sioux City died Tuesday, July 21, 1987 at the Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Spirit Lake, Ia. after a brief illness.

Florence R. (Blackburn) was born March 11, 1898 in Turin, Iowa. She graduated from Onawa High School and moved to Sioux City in 1919. She married Horace J. Rathbun April 20, 1919 in Onawa, Ia. He died May 26, 1985 in Marshalltown, Ia. She was employed in the children’s department at T. S. Martins for many years.

She was a member of Whitfield United Methodist Church and a life member of the United Methodist Women. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star, Rose Croix Chapter 400, and the American Legion Auxiliary, Monahan Post #64.

Survivors include one son, William of Seattle, Wash.; one daughter, Mrs. Joseph P. (Virginia) Griffin of Okoboji, Ia.; one sister, Mrs. Gertrude O. Beck of Spencer, Ia.; two grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 23, 1987 at Whitfield United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry L. Wimmer officiating.

Interment was in the Memorial Park Cemetery with arrangements by the Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
