LUNDY EVERETT LOCKER

Lundy Everett Locker, 66, Whiting, died Monday, July 13, 1987, at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Whiting after a long illness.

He was born December 15, 1920, at Clovis, New Mexico, to Harlan E. and Dolly L. (Graf) Locker. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army. He lived in Oregon and Miller, Missouri, before moving to Whiting in 1949. On September 1, 1953, he married Berniece Hacker in Sioux City, Iowa. He was a farmer’s helper for several years, then was employed at the Whiting Co-op Elevator from 1957 until 1970, and was custodian at the Whiting School from 1970 until his retirement in 1980.

He was a member of the Whiting Church of Christ and the Hindman-Steele American Legion Post #492 in Hornick.

Survivors include his wife, Berniece; two sons, Everett Lynn of Marion, Va. and Robert Lee of Grapevine, Texas; one daughter, Mrs. Jim (Cheryl) Massey of Lake Wales, Fla.; two brothers, Sandy of Brownsville, Ore. and James of Prineville, Ore.; one sister, Dolly Dietz of Salem, Ore.; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert.

Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 1987, at the Church of Christ at Whiting with Evangelist Rusty Hedger officiating. Mrs. Jack Jordan, the organist, accompanied Mrs. Arnold Brenden, the soloist, in the selections “In the Garden” and “He Touched Me”.

Bearers were Alton Morton, Keith Hall, Ervin Mander, David Carlson, Dean Forbes and Kevin Hall.

Interment was at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City, Iowa, with Military Services by Hindman-Steele American Legion Post #492, Hornick, Iowa, Robert Kendall, Commander.

Arrangements were by Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
