DENNIS L. KEELE

Dennis Lee Keele, Sioux City, Iowa, age 47, died suddenly on Monday, July 6, 1987, in Sioux City at a construction site of an apparent heart attack. Formerly of Blencoe, he had resided in Sioux City since 1983.

He was born May 17, 1940 at Onawa, the son of Marvin E. and Dessie (McCrill) Keele. He graduated from Blencoe High School in 1958. On March 2, 1960 he married Gayle Heisterkamp at Blencoe. He worked for Brower Construction of Sioux City from 1967 to 1982. In 1982, he became superintendent of T.B.J. Construction of Sioux City and the couple moved to Sioux City in 1983.

He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Sioux City. He was a member of AA since 1979.

Survivors include his wife, Gayle, of Sioux City; three sons, Larry of Sioux City, Danny of Ulm, Germany, David at home; four daughters, Laura of Harlan, Ia., Mrs. Gary (Roxanne) Martindale of Turin, Ia., Mrs. Derek (Kristine) Davis of Sergeant Bluff, and Denise at home; his mother, Dessie Keele of Blencoe; a brother, Marvin, Jr., of Blencoe; and two grandsons, Curtis and Isaac Martindale of Turin.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin E. Keele, in 1970.

A Funeral Mass was held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, 1987, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Onawa with Mass Celebrant Monsignor Richard A. Zenk. Glenn Heisterkamp was Lector. Mrs. Darrell Hewitt was organist and accompanied the congregation in singing “Amazing Grace”, “The Lord’s Prayer”, “Prayer of St. Francis” and “Be Not Afraid”.

Active Bearers were Doug Holbrook, Dennis Moore, John Stulig, Paul Triplet, Ed Barkley and Jim McNaughton.

Honorary Bearers were Byron Brower, Les Triplet, Collin Jensen and Irving Jensen, Jr.

Interment was in Graceland Cemetery at Blencoe with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
