FRANCES M. HALL

Frances M. Hall, 74, of Castana, died Wednesday in a hospital in Council Bluffs after a short illness.

Mrs. Hall, the former Frances Fuhrmann, was born February 21, 1913, in Bowdon, N.D., to Fred and Christine (Nagel) Fuhrmann. She moved with her parents at the age of three to Cathay, N.D., and graduated from Aneta (N.D.) High School. She married William Hall, April 12, 1933, at Cathay. The couple made their home on a farm near Ticonic and later moved to a farm near Turin. In 1946 they moved to the Castana community. She worked at the Moss Nursing Home at Turin. She was a cook at the Castana Consolidated Community School and served as secretary of the school board. She also worked as a waitress at the Happy Chef Café in Onawa.

Mrs. Hall was a member of the Castana Community Church and was a past president of the Ladies Aid of the church.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Roy (Marilyn) Satterwhite of Elizabeth, Colo.; two sons, Ellsworth of Arvada, Colo. and Roger of Onawa; five sisters, Mrs. Emma Edinger of Feesenden, N.D., Mrs. Florence Roberts of Valley City, N.D., Mrs. Helen Ellefson of Minot, N.D., Mrs. Christine O’Leary of North Dakota and Mrs. Alex (Selma) Tage of Sykeston, N.D.; eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Ronald Hall, parents, three sisters and two brothers.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 3, 1987, in the Castana Community Church, the Rev. Richard Hempenius officiating. Organist was Mrs. Patsy Petersen and Mrs. Cathy Hansen and Mrs. Nancy Hanson sang a duet.

Pallbearers were Larry Lamb, Thayer Brown II, Dale Bean, Robert Hardison, Eldon Waples and Ronald Burke.

Interment was in Center Cemetery, Castana, Iowa, with the Walter Funeral Service, Mapleton, in charge of arrangements.
