ONAWA, Iowa -- Wilma Gover Hathaway of Lampe, Mo., formerly of Onawa, died Sunday, July 15, 2007, at her home in Lampe.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Christian Church in Onawa, with Pastors Don Collison and Jerry Quandt officiating. Burial will be in Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.

Wilma was born Sept. 6, 1931, in Chamois, Mo., the daughter of James and Viola Gover. She moved with her family to Iowa while still a young girl and moved to Onawa in the early 1940s, where she graduated from Onawa High School. She completed business school in Des Moines and then returned to Onawa, where she married Howard Hathaway on April 8, 1951. The couple farmed in rural Turin and Castana, Iowa, and raised three daughters.

Wilma was a member of First Christian Church in Onawa and was active in the church's women's club, Sunday school and choir. She also played the piano for numerous church activities. She was employed as a secretary in the community and owned and operated the Clothes Nook in Onawa. Wilma was a member of the BPW and was active in the American Cancer Society. She moved to Lampe, Mo., in December, 2006. Wilma loved cooking, crafts, entertaining and decorating. She also greatly enjoyed traveling to visit her grandchildren, family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, Howard of Lampe; her daughters and their families, Jackie Hathaway of Sarasota, Fla., Penny Stanislav of Reeds Spring, Mo., and Colleen Langenfeld of Monument, Colo.; a sister, Louise Kratz of Whiting, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Mary Jane Gover of Des Moines; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Edward Gover.
