Marjorie Jane Danner died Feb. 2 in Fremont, Neb., at the age of 92. She was born Feb. 24, 1921, in Marion, N.D., the first child of Harold and Agnes (Olson) Crossman.

She attended school in Jamestown. N.D. and graduated from Valley City State Teachers College in Valley City, N.D. with a teacher’s certificate. She taught school for a short time in Minnesota.

On Aug. 9, 1942, Marge married her high school sweetheart, Ralph J. “Doc” Danner, in San Diego, Calif. They settled in Mapleton in 1957 where they raised their eight children.

Doc served the community as an optometrist at the Danner Eye Clinic with the support of Marge at home. They retired in Palm Desert, Calif., in 1985. After Doc’s passing in 1994, Marge moved to Fremont, Neb., in 1995. She has lived there until her passing.

While in Fremont, Marge was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church where she was active with the Catholic Daughters and St. Patrick’s Women’s Group. While in Mapleton, she was very active at St. Mary¹s Catholic Church, St. Mary¹s Guild, and Willow Dale Golf Club Women’s League.

Other interests she enjoyed throughout her adult life were playing bridge, skiing, golfing, sewing, and quilting. She was an avid college sports fan especially of Creighton University and the University of Nebraska. Above all, she was the biggest fan of her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids and their lives.

Survivors include five sons and two daughters, David of Iowa City, Ronald (Audrey) of Craig, Colo., Larry of Los Angeles, Calif., Judi Danner Bowden (Jim) of Sonoma, Calif., Deb Klein (Ron) of Coon Rapids, Minn., Doug (Linda) of New Port Beach, Calif., and Joe (Deb) of Omaha, Neb.; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one brother, Jim Crossman of Post Falls, Idaho; along with other extended family members.

Along with her husband, Marge was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Daniel Danner; a grandson, Ryan Danner; two granddaughters, Mary and Jessica Klein; and two brothers, David and Harold “Bud” Crossman.

Funeral Mass was held Saturday, Feb. 8, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Mapleton, with Rev. Dan Greving officiating. Lector was Sarah Zahn. Offertory Procession was by Doug Danner and Camille Danner.

Pallbearers were Langston Danner, Matt Klein, Mark Klein, Jonathon Klein,

Elliot Zahn, Thane Stranathan.

Message in Music was by Julie Hamann, accompanist and vocalist.

Visitation was helf Friday, Feb. 7, after 4 p.m. with Rosary led by St. Mary’s Guild at 4:30 p.m. Vigil Wake Service was at 7:00 p.m. A Visitation was also held Saturday, one hour prior to Mass. At Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Interment was at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Mapleton.

Everyone attending was invited and encouraged to return to the church following the interment for a time of sharing food and fellowship.
