MABEL LUCILLE GOODMAN

Mabel Lucille Goodman, 80, Mondamin, Iowa, died on Tuesday, June 9, 1987, in St. Joseph Hospital at Omaha, Nebraska.

She was born on January 27, 1907, at Orson, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Edith (Collins) Oliver. She married Clark Stevens on July 22, 1922. The couple had one son, Lawrence Stevens. She married Lauren Goodman on July 3, 1928, and to this union was born two daughters, Mary and Linda. Mr. Goodman died July 21, 1960, in Missouri Valley. Lucille operated and worked in restaurants in Mondamin before retiring in the last 1960’s. She was a lifelong resident of Mondamin area.

She was a member of the Mondamin Church of Christ and its Ladies Aid. She was a member of the Jesse Strong Post of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include her son, Lawrence Stevens, of Mondamin; two daughters, Linda McDowell of Mondamin and Mrs. Gale (Mary) Scarborough of St. Paul, Nebr.; 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lauren; two brothers; and two sisters.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 12, 1987, at the Church of Christ, Mondamin, Iowa, with Rev. James Stark officiating. The organist was Bruce Norris and the soloist, Amy Norris, sang “Amazing Grace” and “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere”.

Honorary Bearers were Larry Stevens, Jason McDowell and Lauren Scarborough.

Active Bearers were Ron Griffith, James Lewis, LaDon McColley, David J. Rife, Jerry Shelton and Roger Spooner.

Interment was in the Magnolia Cemetery, Magnolia, Iowa, with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
