Genevieve Lucille "Jenny" Rickert was born to Herbert Max and Jenny Lucile (Hall) Hahn on March 13, 1926, in Mapleton. She grew up in the Mapleton area and graduated from Mapleton High School.

Jenny married Waldo Rickert on Jan. 2, 1944. They celebrated 70 years of marriage last month. Jenny and Waldo farmed until 1992. Always a farmer at heart, Jenny enjoyed very little more than a new spring calf, a summer rain, or driving a tractor. In retirement, Jenny crafted with wood, making clocks and game boards, and she helped Waldo manufacture pedal plane parts for Skyline Precision Parts.

Jenny and her husband, Waldo, leave a legacy of four children, Doug of Raleigh, N.C., Sandy (John) of Sioux Falls, S.D., Jackie (Tom Morgan) of Mondamin, Iowa, and David (Cindy) of Ankeny, Iowa. They are blessed with seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Jenny is survived by her husband, Waldo; her children; and six of her eight siblings, Pauline Botsford of Denison, Iowa, Herbert Hahn Jr. of Omaha, Juanita Bachman of Denison, Elizabeth Brooks of Colorado, Springs, Colo., Francis Hahn of Mapleton, and Shirley Bertin of Hysham, Mont.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Norman and Henry.
