ELSIE G. MILLER

Elsie G. Miller 87, Onawa, Iowa, died Monday, May 18, 1987, at Elmwood Nursing Home, Onawa, Iowa.

She was born March 15, 1900, in Audubon County, Iowa, to Alfred D. and Mary E. (Fisher) Arney. She moved to Onawa with her family as a child. On December 18, 1919, she married Larry Fred Miller in Woodbury County. They made their home in Onawa for a number of years and the couple farmed west of Moorhead before moving back to Onawa in 1957. He died August 3, 1969, in Onawa. She had worked as a waitress in various Onawa cafes and also as a caterer.

She was a member of the First Christian Church at Onawa.

Survivors include: one son, Boyd of Omaha, Nebr.; one sister, Mrs. P. L. (Alta) Briley of Onawa; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Vinson Drew Arney and Eldie Arney; and one sister, Mildred Hanline.

Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 1987, at the First Christian Church in Onawa with Rev. Jerry Quandt and Rev. Everett Epperson officiating. Mrs. Vincent Phillips, the organist, accompanied Mrs. Fred Gibson, the soloist, in the selections “It Is Well with My Soul” and “The Lord’s Prayer”.

Bearers were Kenneth Beedle, Lyle Lambert, Gerald Miller, John Miller, Robert Felker and Max Arney.

Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
