DEAN J. KING

Dean James King, 88, lifetime resident of Mondamin, Iowa, died Thursday, April 30, 1987, at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa, after a short illness.

He was born March 20, 1899, in rural Mondamin to Frank and Bell (Silsby) King. He graduated from Woodbine Normal School and worked in banks at Woodbine and Soldier prior to farming in the Mondamin area. On March 15, 1922, he married Bernice Roden in Omaha, Nebraska.

Survivors include: his wife, Bernice; one son, James, of Mondamin; one brother, Kenneth of Blair, Nebr.; one sister, Mrs. Helen Thompson of Clarinda, Ia.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Vera; and two brothers, Cloyce and Lawrence.

Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 4, 1987, at the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa, with Rev. Jerry Quandt officiating. The organist, Mrs. Royal Roden, played “Beyond the Sunset”.

Bearers were Everett Rife, Wally Ruffcorn, Grover Gee, Royal Roden, Lyle King and Rolland Thomas.

Interment was in Soldier Valley Cemetery at Pisgah, Iowa, with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
