JAMES VELMER REAGLE, SR.

James V. Reagle, 82, of Salem, Oregon, died Saturday, March 28, 1987, in Salem, Oregon, after a lengthy battle with lung cancer.

He was born in Pleasantville, Iowa, July 21, 1904. He was raised in the Midwest.

He was born and reared in Pleasantville, Iowa. He was the 5th child in a family of seven. He worked on farms, did surveying and other various jobs until he retired in 1962. He married Violet Mae Peasley, August 30, 1927, in Omaha, Nebr. They moved to the west and settled in Salem, Oregon, in 1943. To this union, seven children were born. The oldest child, Kenneth, passed away August, 1985, after a five year battle with cancer.

Survivors include his wife, Violet; daughters, Margaret Adams of Escalon, Calif., Norma Thiessen of Kent, Wash., Hazel Hults and Sharon Schaberg of Salem, Ore.; sons, Robert V. of Seattle, Wash. and James V. of Salem, Ore.; and sisters, Ina Pippitt of Council Bluffs, Ia. and Hazel Henry of Orcutt, Calif. Twenty-one grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

Services were held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, 1987, in the Rigdon-Ransom Colonial Chapel in Salem, Oregon. The Rev. Ralph L. Trask officiated. Music selections were: “Daddy’s Hands”, “I Met The Master” and “Finally Home”.

Casket bearers were Craig Reagle, Tony Thiessen, Mike Thiessen, Kevin Thiessen, Jeff Thiessen and Mark Thiessen.

Interment was in the Lee Mission Cemetery, Salem, Oregon.
