Terry L. Barnes, age 41, of Battle Creek, formerly of Mapleton, died Sunday, February 22, 1998, at Ida Grove, Iowa.

Services were held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Mapleton With Pastor Edgar Bode officiating. Burial was in St. Clair Cemetery, Ute. Norma Jean Dose was the organist for the service and the congregation sang. "Lift High The Cross", "How Great Thou Art" and "What A Friend We Have In Jesus". A prayer service was held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Terry Lee Barnes was born November 27, 1956, at Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Chester and Viola (Pranschke) Barnes. He lived in Glenwood, Iowa until the age of 26 years when he moved to the Battle Creek Group Home in Battle Creek, Iowa. The last two years, Terry resided at the Willow Dale Care Center in Battle Creek.

Music, bowling and dancing all brought great enjoyment to Terry's life as well time he spent with his family.

Those survivors include his mother, Viola Barnes of Mapleton, Iowa; two sisters and their husbands, Judy and Roger Furne of Battle Creek, Iowa and Jolene and Dick Streck of Schleswig, Iowa: three brothers and their wives, Ron and Rose Barnes of Sioux City, Iowa, Don and Myra Barnes of Mesa, Arizona and Rick and Denise Barnes of Defiance, Iowa; along with other relatives and friends.

Terry was preceded in death by his father, Chester and two brothers, Kenneth and Gary.

Pall bearers were Jody Barnes, Kevin Streck, Shane Furne, Jim Barnes, Todd Furne and Don Barnes. Jr.
