GARY E. BARNES

Funeral services tor Gary E. Barnes, 22, who was killed Saturday night Saturday night, August 3, 1988 in an automobile accident east of Sloan, were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 7, at the Christian Church at Ute, Iowa. The Rev. Keith Hair officiated. Burial was in St. Clair cemetery at Ute under direction of the W. Harry Christy Funeral Home of Morningside.

Mr. Barnes was born Feb. 2, 1946, and had resided in Mapleton all has life. He served with the Army from January, 1984, until January 1987, stationed most of the time in Germany. Before working for the Hesse Construction Co., he worked for the Hedburg Construction Co. at Battle Creek, Iowa. He attended t h e Christian church.

Survivors include his parents, Chester Barnes and Mrs. Viola Barnes, both of Mapleton, four brothers, Ronald and Ricky of Mapleton, Donald of Danbury and Terry of Glenwood, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Roger (Judy) Furne of Columbus, Ga., and Miss Jolene Barnes of Mapleton and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Augusta Pranschke of Mapleton.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth.
