Resident of Ute Dies

Alice Mae Dahl, a resident of the Ute community since 1917, passed away on August 16, 1975. She had reached the age of 79 years, 4 months and 15 days.

She was born March 31, 1896 at Blakesburg, Iowa, the daughter of Minar and Mary Smith Barnes. She was united in marriage to Gale V. Dahl on January 29, 1913 at Paris, Iowa, and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary January 29, 1973; Gale passed away on January 10, 1974.

Alice was a baptized member of the Ute Christian Church.

Survivors include four daughters: Mrs. Adolph (Mildred) Henschen of Charter Oak, Iowa, Mrs. George (Minnie) Blume of Soldier, Iowa, Mrs. George (Erma) Hargrove, Mapleton, Iowa, and Mrs. Leo (Frieda) Pohlman of Mingo, Iowa; three sons: Carl of Soldier, Earl of Onawa and Gale Dahl, Jr. of Spokane, Washington; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; four sisters: Mrs. Henry (Axie) Nelson of Soldier, Mrs. Francis Tadlock of Sioux City, Mrs. Wayne (Ruby) Hayworth, Moville, and Mrs. Walt (Florence) Nagel of Onawa; two brothers, Dale Barnes of Ute and Chester Barnes of Onawa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one daughter, Mabel Marie.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 19, 197S at the Christian Church a t Ute, Iowa, with Rev. Keith Hair and Rev. Everett Epperson officiating. Keith and Nancy Hair sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art" accompanied by Mrs. Chris Jensen.

Bearers were Jerry Blume, Rick Blume, Ervin Zellmer, Roger Henschen, Dennis Henschen and Larry Pohlman.

Interment was in the St. Clair Cemetery at Ute
