Ethel M. O'Connor, age 96. of Mapleton, Iowa, died on Tuesday, June 28, 1988. in a nursing home in Battle Creek, Iowa. Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 1, 1988, in St. John's United Methodist Church in Mapleton, Iowa, with the Reverend Dick Krambeck officiating. Burial was in the St. Clair Cemetery at Ute, Iowa. Visitation was after 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. June 30, 1988, in the Walter Funeral Home in Mapleton, Iowa.

Mrs. O'Connor, the former Ethel Fritz, was born on December 31. 1891, to John and Eliza
(Wiggs) Fritz in Mapleton, Iowa. She married Alvin C. O'Connor on September 19. 1910. in Onawa, Iowa. The couple farmed in the Mapleton and Soldier, Iowa area until 1962. when they retired and moved into Mapleton, Iowa. She had lived the last ten years at the Willow Dale Nursing Home in Battle Creek, Iowa. Mr. O'Connor died on December 24, 1982. Mrs. O'Connor was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and Woodmen of the World. She was a past member and former Noble Grand of the Rebekah Lodge and a past member of the Royal Neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, four sisters, one
daughter. Garnet, and two grandsons.

Survivors Include three sons, Clarence and Darrell. both of Mapleton, Iowa, and Edwin of
Omaha, Nebraska; five daughters, Mrs. Marjorle Rose and Mrs. Earl (Alma) Ulven, both of Mapleton. Iowa, Mrs. Glenn (Eva) Schmidt of Ida Grove, Iowa, Mrs. Harry (Charlotte)
Murray of Denison, Iowa, and Mrs. Richard (Katherynn) Holden of Lancaster, California;
twenty-seven grandchildren; fifty-five great-grandchildren; and twelve great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Ethel's grandsons, George Braden, Perry O'Connor. Michael Wood. Chuck Ulven, Greg O'Connor, and Ted Rose.
