William Leonard Zediker

William Leonard Zediker, son of Lou and Charlotte Heisler Zediker was born May 5. 1900 at Mapleton, Iowa and died December 14. 1959 at Sioux City, Iowa at the age of 59 years, seven months and nine days.

Mr. Zediker was a lifelong resident of Mapleton and had been active in the community affairs all his life.

He was employed for nine years at the Bright Clothing store and also at the Kraft Clothing store for many years. He owned and operated the Paramount Cafe for 13 years and for the last 14 years had owned and operated Bill's Recreation.

He was married to Marie Richards, January 24,1920 n Sioux City. Three children were born, to this union.

Mr. Zediker was a charter member of Willow Vale Golf club and had held all of the offices in the club and had devoted much time and effort to this organization. He was also a member of the Mapleton Club, The Woodman Of The World and the Eagles Lodge at Ottawa.

He is survived by his wife Marie, one son, William Jr. of South San Francisco, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Dwight Cloud, of Bellflower, Calif, and Mrs. Willard Patrick of South San Francisco, Calif.; three grandchildren; one brother, Roy of Mapleton and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Atterberry of San Diego, Calif.; Mrs. Floyd Bouslaugh of Onawa and Mrs. James Kenley of Sioux City. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Funeral services were held Thursday, December 17, 1959 a t 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal church in Mapleton with Rev. John D. Eales officiating. Honorary pall bearers were Dr. Paul G. Ingham, Lawrence Fitzpatrick, Minus Jensen, William Babl, John Olson, John Marten. William Haubrich and Harvey Grass. Active pall bearers were: Hugo Owens Russell Conyers, George Tamp, Lawrence Bray, Clifford Reed and Joe Lakner. Burial was at the Danbury cemetery at Danbury, Iowa, under the direction of the Walter Funeral Homes.
