ONAWA, Iowa -- Avril (Causer) Hansen, 60, of Onawa, died Saturday, April 16, 2005, at Creighton Medical Center in Omaha.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church in Onawa, with the Rev. Chuck Layton officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.

Avril was born Jan. 8, 1945, in Kirkby County of Nottingham, England, the daughter of Reginald James and Doris Mary (Kelly) Causer. She was raised in England and met her future husband, Roger Hansen, while he was stationed in Germany. They were married on Roger's family farm near Little Sioux, Iowa, on July 13, 1968.

The couple raised two children and made their home in various locations mostly in the Onawa area. She was a electronics technician with Williams Pipeline until ill health forced her retirement.

She was a member of United Methodist Church and Southwest Transplant Society. She enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, bird watching, camping, needlework and painting. Her greatest enjoyment was her four grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Roger of Onawa; a son and his wife, Rick and Renae of Reynolds, N.D.; a son-in-law and his wife, Corry and Melissa Martin of Gold Waithe, Texas; three grandsons, Brandon Hansen, Nicholas Hansen and Randy Martin; a granddaughter, Brittany Martin; and three sisters, Brenda, Maureen and Jean, all living in England.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon Martin; an infant son, Carl; and her parents.
