RUTH M. DRAIS

Ruth M. Drais, 76, of Onawa, Iowa, died March 12, 1987, at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa.

She was born March 17, 1910, in Buffington, Indiana, to Charles Edward and Pearl Faye (Mann) Murphy. She came to Onawa in 1929. On August 21, 1929, she married Webb I. “Dick” Drais at Sioux City and they made their home in Onawa. He died on October 9, 1958. She was a licensed practical nurse at the Onawa Hospital for 10 years and at Burgess Memorial Hospital for three years.

She was a member of the First Christian Church, Royal Neighbors of America, Camp #1469, David McNeill American Legion Auxiliary Post #129, Elise Rebekah Lodge #222, and the Women’s Relief Corps, all of Onawa.

Survivors include one sister, Anna Mesenbrink, of Onawa; and one brother, Howard Murphy, of Medford, Ore.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one brother, Ralph Vincent Murphy.

Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 16, 1987, at the Pearson Funeral Chapel at Onawa with Rev. Jerry Quandt officiating.

The Women’s Relief Corps of Onawa presented a Memorial Service as part of the funeral service.

Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
