ROBERT W. WAGNER, Sr.

Robert W. Wagner, Sr., Turin, Iowa, died on Saturday, February 28, 1987, in Myrtue Memorial Hospital in Harlan, Iowa. Death came at the age of 83 years, 9 months and 15 days.

He was born in Belvidere Township, Monona County, Iowa, on May 13, 1903, the son of Hans and Emma (Stanton) Wagner. He married Nellie Riley December 24, 1924, in rural Turin. The couple farmed in the Turin and Castana area. Mrs. Wagner died in July 1940. He retired in 1974 and had lived with his daughter in Hancock the last year.

Mr. Wagner was a member of the United Methodist Church in Turin.

Survivors include four sons, Robert Jr., of Fort Myers, Fla.; James E. of Moorhead, Ia.; Leo D. of Turin, Ia., and Ronald O. of Storm Lake, Ia.; three daughters, Mrs. Clifton (Lois) Domina of Hancock, Mrs. Leonard (Nellie) Clingenpeel of Mapleton, and Mrs. William (Mary) Hart of rural Sioux City; a sister, Mrs. A. Gene (Alice) Anderson of Sioux City; a brother, Ernest of Houston, Texas; 30 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a granddaughter, four great grandchildren, five brothers: Claude, Louis, Charles, John and Carl; and six sisters: Dorothy, Elsie, Anna, Kate, Margaret and Florence.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 1987, at the United Methodist Church, Turin, Iowa, with Rev. Hugh S. Bird officiating. The organist was Mrs. Bill Roberg and the soloist, Becky Cummins, sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Shall We Gather At The River”.

Grandsons of the deceased were the casket bearers.

Interment was in the Belvidere Cemetery, Turin, Iowa, with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
