CECIL H. KENDALL
Cecil H. Kendall, 81, of Hornick, Iowa, died March 6, 1987, in Burgess Memorial Hospital, Onawa, Iowa, after a long illness.
He was born March 7, 1905, in Hornick, Iowa, to Joseph H. and Sophia (Hanner) Kendall. On September 7, 1935, he married Leila Chesley in Dakota City, Nebraska. The couple lived at Luton and Sioux City before moving back to Hornick in 1938. He worked for Milwaukee Railroad for 50 years before retiring as a foreman in 1974.
He was a member of United Methodist Church in Hornick.
Survivors include his wife, Leila; three sons, Clifford of Fortuna, Calif., Gerald “Gary” of Omaha, and Melvin of Hooper, Nebr.; one daughter, Diana Martin, of Sioux City; three sisters, Ivy Vanlaningham and Goldie Vanlaningham, both of Moville and Marie Piercy of Sioux City; several grandchildren and great grandchildren and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and two grandchildren.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 9, 1987, at the United Methodist Church, Hornick, Iowa, with Rev. Gary DeGeest officiating. The organist, Mrs. Orval Cox, accompanied Gerald Beckstrom, the soloist, in the selection “He Touched Me.”
Bearers were Donald Domina, Melvin Domina, Brett Brown, Martin Brown, Ronald Kendall and Michael Martin.
Interment was in West Fork Township Cemetery at Climbing Hill, Iowa, with arrangements by the Wood Funeral Home, Sloan, Iowa.
