SELMA D. OLSON

Selma D. Olson, 92, of Hammond, Indiana, formerly of Soldier, Iowa, died February 9, 1987, in a nursing home in Munster, Indiana.

She was born November 17, 1894, in Moorhead, Iowa, to Christian and Adeline (Severson) Benson. On August 9, 1922, she married Otto Olson at Yankton, South Dakota. The couple made their home in Soldier until 1929 and then lived in Sioux City, Wayne, Lincoln and Council Bluffs. Mr. Olson died December 7, 1961, in Council Bluffs. She had lived in Indiana since 1967.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Jean Evett of Highland, Ind.; one brother, Ernest Benson of Post Falls, Idaho; three sisters, Mrs. Delia Snow and Mrs. Sol (Clara) Schenk, both of Yankton, S. D.; and Mrs. Wynne Peed of Branson, Mo.; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 11, 1987, at the Soldier Lutheran Church with Pastor Larry Sydow officiating. Mrs. Ivan Gibbs, the organist, played “Abide With Me”.

Bearers were Douglas Nelsen, Kenneth Lee, Bernard Thoreson, George Burson, Harvey Straight and Clarion Nelsen.

Interment was in the Soldier Lutheran Cemetery with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home, Soldier, Iowa.
