JEFFREY PHILLIP MARVIN

Jeffrey Phillip Marvin, 16, Onawa, Iowa, died Saturday, January 31, 1987 in St. Joseph Hospital, Omaha, Nebraska, as a result of injuries suffered in a one-vehicle accident Friday evening south of Onawa. He was the son of Phillip and Kathleen Marvin of Onawa.

He was born September 27, 1970, in Onawa, to Phillip and Kathleen (Krause) Marvin. He was a sophomore at West Monona Community High School where he was active in football, basketball, baseball and golf. He had participated in Junior High track and had been a member of the Junior High Student Council. He was a former Boy Scout.

Jeffrey was a member of the United Methodist Church and was active in the United Methodist Youth Fellowship.

Survivors include his parents; two sisters, Michelle and Molly, both at home; maternal grandparents, Clarence and Dorothy Krause of Ponca, Nebr.; paternal grandparents, Neal and Peggy Christensen of Bloomfield, Nebr.; and his great grandparents, Jurn and Etta Harberts, Bill and Rosa Krause, and Francis and Mary Marvin.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 3, 1987, at the West Monona Community High School Auditorium, Onawa, Iowa, with Rev. Hugh Bird officiating. The pianist was Mrs. Darrell Hewitt and Greg Laffey and David Rieff sang “Because He Lives” and “He Touched Me”.

Honorary bearers were Nathan Williams, David Krause, Troy Harder, Tyler Harder, Pat Krause, Blane Bennett, Mike Heffeman, Paul Krause, Rick Krause and Brent Bennett.

Active bearers were Kevin McCarty, Chad Burtch, Gene Marvin, John Jester, Raymond Hansen and Robert Hoevet.

Interment was in Silver Ridge Cemetery, Ponca, Nebraska, with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
